My photographs are factual in documenting the socioeconomics of different neighborhoods throughout Chicago. From taking photographs in neighborhoods like Lincoln Park and Gold Coast to Pilsen and Uptown one can see the cultural and economic differences of these neighborhoods and the people who inhabit them. With the use of color in this body of work I believe the colors of the storefronts show the personality of each neighborhood and how diverse they are. When taking my photographs I use the motor drive on my camera which allows me to shoot 10 frames per second. This allows me to find my own decisive moments as opposed to just one single moment like Henri Cartier Bresson. I am then left with anywhere from 10-20 variations as the subject moves through the frame. Afterwords, I carefully select where the character in my image is in the frame and if little details that I want to be shown are being hidden. I take my time to compose scenes on the street so the framing is well designed and thought out. I then wait for a person that may live in that neighborhood, or someone just passing by to casually walk into the frame of the photograph. I believe what makes Chicago so great is its diversity. Since I have been exploring these different neighborhoods I now have more of an appreciation for all of the neighborhoods and the people who inhabit them.
